URKUND plagiarism service

19 January 2017

URKUND's fully-automated system for handling plagiarism is now available for universites and colleges in the UK and Ireland

We are delighted to announce the availability of the service from URKUND through this new Chest Agreement.

Development of URKUND started in 1999 and the service today operates globally with university customers from Scaninavia, other parts of Europe and around the world. It was the subject of an article in the Glasgow Guardian in 2015.

Checking students' work for plagiarism requires time and resource. URKUND offers a fully-automated system for handling plagiarism that is easy to use and introduce into a university or college. It is based on email and all documents are checked as soon as they are uploaded against three sources, internet, published material and student material. Site licences for URKUND are available through this Chest Agreement.

In case you were wondering…. URKUND is a Germanic word, its meaning is something along the lines of "original document", "unaltered original" or "deed". Its English pronunciation is similar to how one says "gherkin” i.e. ERKIN.

The new agreement commences on 1 February and is for three years – pricing is based on Student FTE count with a minimum annual fee of £900 plus VAT per licensed institution.
